Julie Bulman, MD
NESIR President, 2022-23

Dear NESIR Colleagues,

Welcome back to another exciting year for NESIR! I am honored to serve as this year’s President of our New England angio club and have been working hard with our board of directors to arrange a robust program for this year. Dr. Yan Epelboym will be serving this year as first Vice President and Dr. Colin McCarthy will join us as second Vice President. Dr. Epelboym and Dr. McCarthy will lead our robust RFS Section along with our resident representatives Dr. Colette Glaser, Dr. John Di Capua and Dr. Yara Younan. We look forward to their hands-on sessions and career development RFS programming for the year.

This year, we have an exciting Monday lecture series including topics in breast cryoablation, cholangioscopy, thyroid artery embolization, economics of IR, non-operative room anesthesia (NORA) in the angio suite and updates on uterine artery embolization and peripheral arterial disease management.
Please see our lecture schedule on our website for further details.

We have all experienced significant changes in our personal and professional lives due to COVID, and our society was far from exempt. Due to content constraints associated with CME, the NESIR Board of Directors has decided not to pursue CME for this year’s activities in favor of greater educational flexibility. We will continue to offer a hybrid model of lectures, always providing a virtual option for our four in-person meetings, though we strongly encourage a return to in-person attendance in the Longwood area to bring back our fellowship of case discussion and networking on Monday evenings. NESIR will be host this year to the national fall Society of Interventional Radiology Angio Club. This will be a fully virtual meeting, and we encourage case submissions from our membership from both the private practice and academic settings, to showcase the great work we are doing here in New England. More details to follow.

I look forward to seeing everyone in person for our first session on Monday, October 17 in person at the Longwood Inn. As is tradition, members are invited to
submit interesting cases for presentation after the keynote lecture. If you have not already, please renew your membership for the 2022-23 year on our website. Your dues ensure we can continue to host excellent, world-renowned speakers each year. We are happy to continue providing complimentary membership for our resident and medical student members.

Please feel free to
reach out to me with any questions or suggestions for our society and we will otherwise see each other soon.

Sincerely,

Julie C. Bulman, MD
