Yan Epelboym, MD, MPH
NESIR President, 2023-24

Dear NESIR Colleagues,

I am excited to welcome you all back for another wonderful year for NESIR. I have been working with our leadership to plan an educational and rewarding program. Dr. Colin McCarthy will be serving this year as first Vice President and Dr. David Guez will be joining us as second Vice President. Dr. McCarthy and Dr. Guez will lead our outstanding RFS Section in conjunction with our resident representatives Dr. John Di Capua, Dr. Sameer Singhal, Dr. Joshua Ellis, and Dr. Bardia Nadim.

This year, we have an exciting Monday lecture series which includes topics in musculoskeletal embolization therapies, professional liability in IR, interventional pain management, management of chronic venous disease, and machine learning in IR.

We are also excited to announce two virtual events that will be held in collaboration with our peer angio clubs in New York and Philadelphia. One virtual event will be held in collaboration with the New York Roentgen Society and the 2nd virtual event will be held in collaboration with the Philadelphia Angiography and Interventional Radiology Society. More details to follow!

We will also be hosting our annual RFS hands on simulation workshop on November 4th.  Finally, to conclude the year we will be hosting an awards banquet and hands on workshop. We are excited to present awards to members of our IR community.

Please see our lecture schedule on our website for further details.

In keeping with the prior year’s practice we will continue to offer a hybrid model of lectures, always providing a virtual option for the in-person meetings, though we strongly encourage in-person attendance in the Longwood area to build our fellowship of case discussion and networking on Monday evenings.

I look forward to seeing everyone in person for our first session on Monday, September 18th in person at the Longwood Inn. As is tradition, members are invited to
submit interesting cases for presentation after the keynote lecture. If you have not already, please renew your membershipfor the 2023-24 year on our website. Your dues ensure we can continue to host excellent, world-renowned speakers each year. We are happy to continue providing complimentary membership for our resident and medical student members.

Please feel free to
reach out to me with any questions or suggestions for our society and we will otherwise see each other soon.

Sincerely,                                                                                                                     Yan Epelboym, MD, MPH
